At the "Watches & Wonders" Geneva fair, Vacheron Constantin once again unveiled two new American 1921 models: a 40mm version (Ref. 82035/000R-H114) and a 36.5mm version (Ref. 1100S/000R-H115).
For this edition, Vacheron Constantin pairs an 18K 5N pink gold cushion-shaped case with a silver dial featuring a fine grained finish, creating a sense of depth and dimension when light plays across the surface. A standout design feature is the use of a vibrant blue hue for the Arabic numeral hour markers, the railway-style minute track, and the small seconds scale. The hour and minute hands, as well as the small seconds hand, are crafted from blue-finished 18K gold; this choice echoes the blue markings while enhancing the watch's vintage aesthetic.
It is worth noting that the last time the Historiques American 1921 featured blue hands was in 2021, with a faithful recreation of the original vintage model—a unique piece produced in a limited run of just one. This detail alone makes the new American 1921 a compelling proposition for collectors. The small seconds sub-dial is positioned at 3 o'clock and features a snailed finish that contrasts with the grained texture of the main dial. Notably, the markings on the sub-dial are not rotated 45 degrees to align with the main dial's markers; instead, they remain in a vertical orientation, offering two distinct ways to read the time—one for hours and minutes, and another for seconds.
The 40mm model measures 8.06mm in thickness, while the 36.5mm model measures 7.41mm. Due to the dial's 45-degree tilt, the crown has been repositioned above the 12 o'clock marker. Both the 40mm and 36.5mm versions are powered by the Calibre 4400 AS, a manual-winding movement developed and manufactured in-house by Vacheron Constantin. With a thickness of just 2.8mm, the movement is positioned at an angle to align with the tilted dial; it operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a 65-hour power reserve.
Through the exhibition case back, one can admire extensive Geneva stripes (Côtes de Genève) decoration, while the upper bridges are meticulously finished with a circular-grained (perlage) pattern. At the same time, we can also see the Hallmark of Geneva, a mark of distinction that Vacheron Constantin proudly bears. The best tag heuer monaco replica watches at captainthewatch.
